Lacrosse All-StatesDaria Huang06:00 PM EDT on Monday, June 23, 2008 As the Avengers' lone senior and their last line of defense in an increasingly competitive division, Huang carried a great deal of responsibility on her shoulders this season. She proved up to the challenge, says East Greenwich coach Judy Davis. The co-captain, who was also recognized by U.S. Lacrosse as an Academic All-American, recorded 152 saves in 13 games, helping the Avengers advance to the Division I semifinals. "Daria was the backbone of our team and came up huge when we needed it most," Davis said. "Her biggest save of the year may have come in the quarterfinal game against Portsmouth. We had reached sudden victory overtime and Portsmouth came down the field first. Daria made a huge save, which gave us possession, and we went on to score on that possession to win."
