Described by Lincoln coach Jon Bruckner as “the foundation of our success this year,” Borden helped the Lions go from 5-11 and 15th place in 2008 to 11-5 and fifth place this season. The senior tri-captain, who plans to continue her softball career at the Community College of Rhode Island next year, started all 20 games either on the mound or in left field. As a pitcher, she posted an 8-4 record with one save, a 1.60 E.R.A. and 65 strikeouts over 66 innings. Borden also contributed at the plate, hitting .402 with a .513 on-base percentage, drawing 11 walks and driving in 14 runs.
