Softball All-StatesAlexandria Butler06:00 PM EDT on Saturday, June 21, 2008 Butler may have flown under the softball radar this season, but she certainly made her presence known during Middletown's exciting playoff run. Helping the Islanders advance to the state finals in just their second season of playing in Division II, the junior was spectacular at third base, committing just two errors at the hot corner. Equally impressive at the plate, Butler hit a team-leading .453 with seven doubles, four triples and three home runs, racking up 25 runs scored and 23 RBI. "Alex always represented excellent sportsmanship, an immense drive and immeasurable leadership in this year's successful season," said Middletown coach Robin Ramey. "She would often get the team pumped up with a diving catch or a bullet of a hit in the gap, all the while crediting her teammates' support and team unity for making her opportunity possible" More About Alexandria Favorite moment of the past school year: Playing Barrington and winning!
