Moses Brown captured its first Division II-North Championship and then its first Division II state crown this season, and the Quakers have Liz Kacz largely to thank for both. Whether she was on the mound or at the plate, the sophomore got the job done. Finishing with a 0.63 E.R.A., the hard-throwing right-hander racked up 310 strikeouts this season, including 10 in Moses Brown’s title victory over Middletown. Just as valuable at the plate, she batted .383 at the clean-up spot with six doubles, one triple and two home runs. Kacz also drove in 16 runs, including what would prove to be the game-winner in the Division II finals.
