She is one of the top young swimmers in the world, so it's not surprising that Beisel dominated the Rhode Island Interscholastic League swim scene for a second straight year. At the state championship meet, the Skippers sophomore sensation not only won two individual state titles and led a pair of North Kingstown relay teams to state crowns, she also shattered a 19-year-old URI pool record in the 200-yard freestyle. The 12th-place finisher in the 200-meter backstroke at last year's World Swim Championships in Australia and a winner of four gold medals at last year's U.S. National junior championships, this winter Beisel set high school state and URI pool records in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard freestyle with times of 54.71 and 1:47.38. She also led the North Kingstown teams to the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle titles.
