Eve proved he was the state's top freestyle distance swimmer as he captured the 500-yard freestyle crown at the state meet by almost nine seconds. He was the only swimmer to break the five-minute mark at the state championships with a 4:53.49 effort. He also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle.
