The Rebels star was the top player in the state for the second consecutive year. Not only did Burke win his second straight state singles title, he led South Kingstown to its 10th consecutive team title with his play at the top of the Rebels singles lineup. He finished the season with a perfect 19-0 record, including five victories in the state singles tourney. In the title match of the state singles tourney, he came back from a 6-4 loss in the first set to take the crown with 6-0, 6-3 victories in the final two sets.
