In only one year, Huot progressed from being a second-team All-Stater to being the second-best player in the state. The top player in Division III during the regular season with a perfect record playing at first singles, the talented sophomore became the newest star on the state high school tennis scene as he reached the title round of the state singles tourney with victories over Division I players in the first four rounds. His top performance of the season may have come in a loss, against two-time singles champion Kyle Burke in the tourney title match.
