Despite not running at the Suburban Division Championships and then getting beat by Westerly's Andrew Springer by nearly 40 seconds in the 3,000 to finish second at the Class C Championships, Ross shocked the field at the state meet to win the state title. Ross placed eighth at the New England Championships in the 2-mile run and was the first runner from Rhode Island to cross the finish line in the event. Ross finished first in the 1,000 at the Class C Championships (2:38.40).
