Track & Field All-StatesMatt Washington (55 and 300)06:00 PM EDT on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 Washington successfully defended his 55-meter dash and 300-meter run state titles this season. He didn't set a meet record in the 55 like he did last season (6.40 seconds), but his time of 6.53 was fast enough to win the label fastest runner in the state again. The owner of the state record in the 300 (34.77), Washington ran a 35.99 at the State Meet to finish first. Washington also anchored Hope's 4x200 meter relay team to a first-place finish at the state meet. In addition, Washington took home the gold medal in the 300 at the CCRI Invitational, where he ran a 37.77, and finished second at the New England Championships in 35.27.
