After setting a new meet record to win the state indoor 55-meter hurdles title (7.77), Alexander picked up where he left off during the outdoor season. He won the 110 hurdles at the Rick Schomp Invitational (14.70), the 200-meter dash (22.90), the 100 hurdles (15.30) and the 300 hurdles (41.50) at the Southern Division Championships, and the 300 hurdles at the Class A Championships, where he tied a five-year meet record (39.80) before claiming the state title in the 110 hurdles (14.72) and the 300 hurdles (38.98).
