Rhode Island's newest running star was seeded more than 13 seconds behind the top seed entering the state meet, but that didn't stop him from winning the 3,000-meter state championship by slashing more than five seconds off of his personal best time to capture the gold medal in 8:47.09. Ross won the 3,000 meters at the Class D Championships (9:05.60), where he also placed second in the 1,500 (4:14.40). Ross capped off his junior season with a fourth-place finish in the 1,600 (4:14.21) at the New England Championship Meet.
