Track & Field All-StatesAndrew Springer06:00 PM EDT on Thursday, June 26, 2008 As the most dominant mid-distance runner in the state this season, Springer went undefeated at every major Rhode Island meet that he competed in the 1,500. After winning the 1,500 at the Southern Division Championships (4:01.80), where he also won the 3,000 (8:46.00), and the Class C Championships (4:04.00), where he also won the 800 (1:57.90) and the 3,000 (9:42.80), Springer put on the best performance in the 1,500 that Rhode Island has ever seen at the state meet, winning the title in a state-record time of 3:55.05, which broke a record that had stood for 23 years (John Duggan, South Kingstown, 3:55.50, 6/1/1985). Springer also placed fifth in the 800 at the state meet (1:59.32). At the New England Championships, Springer finished third in the 1,600 in 4:13.19.
