Volleyball All-StatesJames Boyce06:00 PM EDT on Friday, June 20, 2008SeniorEast Providence Outside Hitter Boyce is making his second consecutive first-team All-State appearance. As one of the captains of the Townies, Boyce was the "heart and soul" of East Providence's volleyball team, coach Keith Martinous said. The Townies only lost one match with Boyce in the lineup. Despite missing four matches with an ankle injury, Boyce still racked up 114 kills and 153 digs this season. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Division I volleyball tournament after leading the Townies to an upset 3-1 state championship triumph against previously unbeaten Toll Gate. He had 15 kills in the state championship match. Ranked No. 4 in his class, Boyce will be attending WPI in the fall. |
