High School Sports NewsOlympian Chudy among Woonsocket Hall of Fame inductees10:59 AM EDT on Tuesday, April 15, 2008Lucia Chudy, the former Woonsocket High girls volleyball star who went on to play for the U.S. Olympic volleyball team, is one of 11 individuals who will be inducted into the Woonsocket High Athletic Hall of Fame later this month. Chudy, who played college volleyball at Utah State, will be inducted as both an individual athlete and with her teammates on the 1977 Woonsocket state championship girls volleyball team. The other individual inductees are Richard Ryan, ’48; Ed Renaud, ’64; Ruth Harnois Plante, ’79; Rachel Cardin, ’77; John Gouin, ’71; Tom Zielinski, ’73; Ken Zagaglia, ’68; Danny Chattman, ’71 and the late Frank Keaney, who coaches and taught at Woonsocket High before going became a legendary basketball coach at URI.
