He was undefeated in the 1,500 and the 3,000 in the New England Independent Schools League this season. He was named the League MVP after winning the distance double at the ISL championships. He also won the New England Division III prep titles in the two events. ALLISON CONTI St. George’s Softball Senior The New England Independent School League’s MVP and The Boston Globe’s New England prep school softball player of the year, the Dragons senior catcher closed out her high school career with an outstanding season both offensively and defensively. At the plate she hit .556. Defensively, she threw out 16 runners attempting to steal. PETER JOHNS St. George’s Sailing Senior One of the best high school team racers in New England, Johns’ sailing knowledge combined with his excellent boat-speed played a major role in St. George’s winning both a New England and a national championship. He will attend Georgetown in the fall. ALEX COOK St. George’s Sailing Junior One of the top all-around high school sailors in New England this year, Cook combined excellent boat-speed and positional sense on the course. He was critical in helping St. George’s win both New England and national team racing titles. MEGAN LEONHARD St. George’s Lacrosse Junior A three-sport star, Leonhard earned both first-team ISL All-League honors and a New England Prep School Women’s Lacrosse Association All-Star selection. She led the Dragons in scoring with 46 goals and 9 assists. CHASE UHLEIN St. George’s Lacrosse Senior The Dragons senior goaltender closed out his high school career with another outstanding season, which earned him his second straight first-team All ISL selection. Despite having a young team in front of him, the Hamilton College-bound Uhlein stopped 60 percent of the shots fired at him this season. BRIAN LOWRY St. George’s Baseball Senior A two-time All ISL selection in baseball and basketball, Lowry led the Dragons with his pitching and hitting. He was the Dragons' top hitter with a .410 average and posted a 3.89 E.R.A. in 36 innings on the mound. EMILY BOGAN Providence Country Day Lacrosse Senior Bogan surpassed the 100-career goal mark this season as she tallied 47 goals in 10 SENE games. Her performance led the Knights to an 8-1-1 League record. HOPE BARONE Wheeler Lacrosse Senior The Connecticut College-bound Barone highlighted her sensational high school career with an All-American selection. She used her outstanding speed and quickness to score 70 goals this year. That brought her four-year career goal total to 212 goals. She also assisted on 28 tallies this season, giving her a total of 262 career points. AVIA MORRIS Wheeler Lacrosse Senior Morris played a major role in Wheeler’s SENE 9-0-1 regular season record as she scored 55 goals and assisted on 18 tallies. The production gave her final career totals of 122 goals and 34 assists. IZABELLE DONAHUE Wheeler Lacrosse Senior Donahue's aggressive style and tenacity made her the star of the Wheeler defense this season. She averaged 6.5 caused turnovers per game in SENE action, helping the Warriors post the league’s best regular-season record. LINDSAY LEDDY Wheeler Softball Senior Wheeler's starting catcher for the past four years, Leddy led the Warriors to the SENE championship game this season with her hitting and play behind the plate. She finished her career with school records in almost every offensive category. ANDREW FIORENZANO Wheeler Golf Junior Fiorenzano left little doubt that he was the top golfer in the SENE as he captured the individual title in the conference tournament with an amazing nine-stroke margin of victory. ZACH ALLEN Portsmouth Abbey Lacrosse Senior The University of Vermont-bound Allen was the mainstay of the defensive unit that played a major role in the Ravens' drive to the EIL championship. A first-team EIL selection in football and lacrosse, he was the Ravens' top defender and top ground-ball man this spring. ROGAN VAN GRUISEN Portsmouth Abbey Lacrosse Senior The goalie for the Ravens' EIL championship team, his 13.7 save per game average helped the Ravens roll to a 14-2 overall record and an 8-0 league mark. He made 193 saves in 14 games and only gave up 53 goals. He will attend the College of Wooster in the fall. FRANK HOLBROOK Portsmouth Abbey Baseball Senior The three-sport star led the Ravens' baseball forces to a second-place EIL finish this season with a .464 batting average and a 1.35 E.R.A. on the mound. Almost half of his 26 hits (12) this spring were for extra bases. In 46 innings on the mound, he posted 78 strikeouts. NICK WHITE Portsmouth Abbey Track Senior The New England Prep School Division III javelin champion, White captured EIL championships in the discus and the shot put. Headed to Georgetown in the fall, he also was an All-New England prep school football selection in the fall. STEPHANIE PEREZ Portsmouth Abbey Lacrosse Senior The East Providence resident closed out her amazing high school career with another outstanding lacrosse season. A star field hockey and basketball player as well as a lacrosse star, she had 61 goals and 27 assists for the Abbey lacrosse forces this spring. Headed to Tufts University in the fall, she finished her lacrosse career with 150 goals. HANNAH KNOWLES Rocky Hill Lacrosse Senior An SENE Division II first-team All-League selection for the second straight year, Knowles led the Mariners to title game of the SENE Division II tournament with a 30-goal season. A three-sport star, she completed her career as the Mariners' No. 2 all-time goal scorer with 82 tallies. JULIA SHACKLETON Lincoln School Lacrosse Sophomore One of the top female ice hockey players in the state, Shackleton had 53 goals to lead the Lynx lacrosse forces to the SENE Division I championship. She earned first-team All-State hockey honors this winter after a season in which she was the No. 3 goal scorer in the Interscholastic League Division I girls ranks. |
