La Salle’s Joe Charest had one less “K” and allowed only two hits in five innings but took the loss as his defense committed five errors in a 4-1 Patriots win. John Pedrotty had three RBI, all coming on a bases-clearing double in the second inning. Westmoreland accounted for the Patriots’ first RBI in his first at-bat. WINNERS’ CIRCLE •Matt St. Sauveur scored four goals and Sean Murray added two goals and two assists as Bishop Hendricken knocked North Kingstown from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 12-8 boys lacrosse victory. •Rob Nelson had 20 digs and 11 kills and Brett Stetson had 12 kills and 6 blocks as North Kingstown defeated South Kingstown 3-2, in boys volleyball. Casey Barlow had 28 kills and 14 digs for the Rebels. •Hope Barone’s last of five goals sealed the deal for Wheeler, scoring with 33 seconds left to defeat Falmouth, 12-11, in a girls SENE lacrosse game. Aria Morris chipped in four goals for the Warriors. •The North Kingstown girls lacrosse team posted a 9-5 win over East Greenwich behind the four-goal, two-assist performance by Taylor Bastien. •Katie Sullivan scored the winning run in the top of eighth inning for Moses Brown as it topped Ponaganset, 4-2, in softball. In the bottom of seventh, Emily Aldous tied the game at 2-2 with a leadoff home run for the Chieftains. •Ashley Castelli came to the plate with a runner on third in the eighth inning and and laced a hit for the game-winning run as West Warwick’s softball team defeated Smithfield, 7-5, in extra innings. SPOTLIGHT •Conor O’Donnell’s five goals and three assists led the way for La Salle as it defeated PCD, 17-5, in boys lacrosse and improved to 4-0 and took sole possession of first place in the Division I lacrosse standings. Brendan Rabideau added three goals and three assists for the Rams. •Cranston West’s Chris Famiglietti had a home run, a single and two RBI, Matt Clarkin hit a single, double and added two more RBI and Shane Milan had three hits and an RBI as the Falcons defeated Chariho, 11-2, in baseball. Rob Carbone struck out seven and scattered six hits in the complete-game win. Zach Duksta had a solo home run for the Chargers. •Leah Saris led Moses Brown with five goals and Lauren O’Brien added four goals and three assists as the Quakers defeated La Salle, 14-12, in girls lacrosse. Jenny Ley scored seven goals for the Rams. •Kyle Dumont pitched a complete game with 16 strikeouts and allowed only two hits as Tolman defeated Providence Country Day, 6-1, in baseball. •Josh Flanagan slugged a two-run triple in the fourth and Eric Diggle went 3-for-3 with three doubles and an RBI as Cumberland improved to 3-3 in Division I-North with a 7-5 baseball win over East Providence. •Cody Normand scattered four hits over six innings, struck out seven and homered as the North Kingstown baseball team topped Coventry, 14-4, in a Division I game. •Milan Adams had a bases-clearing triple and Dan Gamache went 2-for-4 with two RBI as Hendricken defeated West Warwick, 9-4, in Division I baseball and improved to 7-0. |
