05/18/2009John Gillooly: Beisel, Sogar take R.I. swimming to a new level Elizabeth Beisel, the North Kingstown junior who was a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic swim team, won the 100-meter backstroke title and Laura Sogar, the Prout senior who is headed to the University of Texas in the fall, captured the 200-meter breaststroke crown at the Charlotte UltraSwim championships.
02/16/2009Hendricken captures 20th straight boys swimming title SOUTH KINGSTOWN –– East Greenwich’s Jeff Winters, South Kingstown’s Kevin Sun, Narragansett’s Luca Spinazzola and La Salle’s Paolo DeLuca rewrote the individual record book, but Hendricken maintained the status quo when it came to the team issue as the Hawks captured their 20th consecutive state team title at yesterday’s R.I. Interscholastic League boys state swim championship.
