Fife's Nakayla Chan holds 10 of the 11 Fife swimming records and she's put in over 160 hours of community service throughout the year to the United Way.

One other number she's proud of ... a 3.8 GPA. 

At state last weekend she finished 1st in the 500 free and first in the 200 IM at the 2A level. She actually finished second overall in the state in the 200 IM event. Currently she holds the 2A state girl's record in the 500 freestyle event.

It's her mental toughness in the pool that might help explain Nakayla's career interests.

She hopes to swim in college and is interested in becoming a neurosurgeon. She is in love with USC right now and would love to swim in the California sunshine.

And she's just a junior. She set the 2A state record in the 500 freestyle event last year as a Sophomore.
