SEATTLE - Daidra Brown scored 18 points and undefeated Kennedy used two big runs in the first half to roll past Lakeside 46-32 in the first round of the Class 3A girls state tournament Wednesday night.

Lakeside led, 2-0, before Kennedy went on its first run. Kennedy led by just three after one quarter before the Lancers scored the final eight points of the half to take a nine-point lead.

Yasmine Fuller added 14 points and Brown had six rebounds for Kennedy (22-2), which scored 22 points off Lakeside's 24 turnovers.

Lakeside was led by juniors Morgan Merriman and Erika Fisher each had eight points for Lakeside (21-6). The Lions shot just 25 percent from the field.
