Rowlett's Marquise Goodwin won five medals at the state track and field meet.
Marquise Goodwin's performance at the state track meet was the best ever by an athlete in Texas' highest classification. His 41 points were the most by an athlete above Class 2A. Starr Crawford, SportsDay's 2009 girls basketball player of the year, led Mansfield Summit to a Class 5A state title this season. To say Flower Mound Marcus' Tyler Lee and Arlington Lamar's Frances Efiong had strong senior seasons in wrestling is an understatement. Highland Park's Katherine Culwell was the District 10-4A MVP this season and led her team to the state tournament.
Katherine Culwell enjoyed the Thanksgiving break with a vacation to Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Even there, the Highland Park senior couldn't stay away from volleyball.
