How many years have you been coaching? 9
What was your record last year? 12-11-3
How is your team shaping up for this season? The team is looking pretty good. We are going to have our share of turbulence, but that is to be expected especially early in the season. I believe that as the season wears on and the younger, less experienced players grown and mature in the game, we will be playing some quality soccer and hopefully turning some heads while we're doing it.
Team leaders: Our captains will obviously be most critical in keeping the team together and motivated. My captains: Nicole Williams, Lauren Taylor, Christine Hubbman, Shannon Smith are really stepping up to the plate to make their senior year a memorable one.
Impact players: I have several. All the starters will be impact players in their own right. Even the non-starters will be vital to our success. Each player has a unique role with specific strengths that we are going to need in order to be successful in such a difficult conference.
What challenges are you expecting this year? Our numbers aren't all that great. We don't really have a huge number of field players and injuries could derail our goals for the season. The GAC is a highly respected and talented conference. We treat each team as if they will be our most difficult opponents. We respect all of our adversaries, but we fear no one. There is little room for error so we need to be mentally tough for a full 80 minutes of soccer no matter what the circumstance. Having 3 talented goalkeepers that are fighting for one spot will provide us with an unfamiliar challenge. Having three keepers will obviously make them very competitive for playing time. Playing time will not be easy to come by, so keeping everyone happy when they aren't seeing the amount of time they would like to see maybe difficult.
What is the best part about coaching this team? Everything! When you have such genuine players that enjoy playing the game as much as I enjoy coaching, it makes my job a lot of fun. |
