TOP STORIESScandal threatens eligibility for former Vashon athletes02:03 PM CST on Tuesday, February 19, 2008St. Louis (AP) -- Southeast Missouri State is declaring ineligible one of two brothers, after their high school coach admitted that he paid to house and clothe them so they could play at his school. Johnny Hill is a sophomore at Southeast. His brother, Bobby, is playing at Lincoln College in Illinois. A story in today's St. Louis Post-Dispatch says the brothers' college careers could be in jeopardy because of the allegation. Southeast says it wants the situation reviewed before deciding Johnny Hill's fate. The Hills are from Alton, Illinois. Both moved to St. Louis to play at Vashon, where the powerhouse basketball program racked up ten state championships under coach Floyd Irons. Irons pleaded guilty in September to federal charges of mail and wire fraud in a real estate scheme.
