LOUIS (AP) -- Miles Clifton passed for five touchdowns and ran for another Friday as Mound City defeated St. Joseph Christian 48-16 in the 8-man Missouri high school title game. The game marked the first time the 8-man championship game was played at the Edward Jones Dome. Clifton, who was 6-for-14 for 170 yards, hooked up four times with Jacob Parker for scores of 17, 12, 17 and 53 yards. He also ran for a 1-yard score. Gage Rosier caught a 32-yard touchdown pass and scored on a 53-yard run for the Panthers (13-0). The 16 points allowed by Mound City was just eight less than the Panthers had allowed their previous 12 games. St. Joseph Christian (11-2) had won 11 straight after an opening-game loss to Mound City. David Welchert rushed for 141 yards and scored on runs of 5 and 2 yards for the Lions.
