LOUIS (AP) -- Eric Brown hit Tarrell Downing with a 28-yard touchdown pass as time expired to give Hazelwood East a 39-34 win over Raytown South in Missouri's Class 5A title game. Raytown South (12-2) had gone ahead with 30 seconds left on a 4-yard run by Sean Wheaton in Friday night's game at the Edward Jones Dome. But Hazelwood East (11-3) came back to capture its third state title on Brown's desperation heave. Downing also caught a 64-yard touchdown pass from Brown for the game's first score, and finished with 124 yards on just three catches. Hazelwood East also got 90 rushing yards and two scores from Dejuan Owens. Quarterback Dennis Tanner led Raytown South with touchdown passes of 15 and 11 yards and scored on a 1-yard run.
