GAME OF THE WEEKCatalina Foothills vs. Sabino01:42 PM MST on Friday, September 26, 2008
Sabercats vs. Falcons Sabino has a do-everything playmaker in RB/TE/DB Scott Brown (current HS Gametime Player of the Week) along with a number of weapons on offense and defense used to making plays every week. The Falcons have a pair of athletes in QB/WR/DB Breck Ashdown and QB/DB David Larriva that have led the way in Foothills being amongst the best in Southern Arizona during the non-conference season. The schools have taken very different paths in getting to this point. The Sabercats were state champion runner-up in back to back seasons (2005-2006), and have been to the playoffs every year since 2003. Foothills has had one winning season in that time (2005: 6-5) with one playoff appearance. Considering the two have only played each other twice in the last 4 seasons this could be the beginning of a very interesting series. Last season the Sabercats were unstoppable lighting up the scoreboard against the Falcons with a 62-7 win. Catalina Foothills beat the Sabercats 17-16 back in 2004 making Friday’s game the tie-breaker. The Falcons have put up video game numbers the last two weeks eclipsing the 400 total yards mark emphasized with a 50-spot over Flowing Wells on Friday. Everybody in Southern Arizona knows you don’t go to the northeast side of town expecting Jay Campos’ Sabercats to just hand the game away. If you want it there, you have to take it. Both teams are riding the confident train, so once again I ask… who wants it more? See you at the game. |
