Strength of Schedule
A few weeks ago I wrote about basketball season my junior year in high school, when we were 19-1 and headed to the tournament and the wheels came off. You might want to go back and read that first. I’ll wait.

The Needle and the Damage Done
Lots about steroids and performance enhancing substances this week. Anyone who thinks this is a problem only for professional sports is kidding themselves.

Turning the Spark into a Fire
I love what the Santa Rita football team did this year. Flash back to a year ago. They were a team adrift- without leadership, maturity, and wins. They were the team everyone wanted for their homecoming opponent, the sure win.

Tales from the Bus
Playing on the road. Before you ever get involved in sports, it sounds intriguing. You and your teammates, getting on the bus, traveling to another school to take them on, and then the ride home after your victory. That, perhaps would be the best part.

Is it worth it?
My junior year in college, I blew out my left knee in our first game. Torn medial collateral and meniscus. My season and - though I didn’t know it at the time- my career was over.

For Love of the Game
The phrase, 'for love of the game' clearly has both feet firmly on the ground in relation to high school athletics.
